KPCMD 장학회

The Korean Presbyterian Church of Metro Detroit (KPCMD) will be conducting scholarship distributions (2 categories in total) for college students enrolling in the 2025 Fall Semester.

The TWO categories of Scholarship

  1. Futures Scholarship / Cho Kyuhong(조규홍) Memorial Scholarship / Kim DoSim (김도심) Memorial Scholarship
    • Student who satisfies “Applicant’s Qualification Requirements”
    • Student:
      • Who attends school in Michigan with a permanent address in Michigan; or
      • Who is a member of the Detroit Presbytery including KPCMD; or
      • Who is a child of the Detroit Presbytery member including KPCMD; or
      • Who is a child of Police/Firefighter in Southfield/Farmington Hills.
  2. KPCMD Missionary Scholarship
    • Student who is a child of Korean Missionary overseas.
    • Student who satisfies “Applicant’s Qualification Requirements”

Applicant’s Qualification Requirements – E-Submission Required (scholarship@kpcmd.org)

  • The applicant must be a high school student enrolling for college, college student or graduate student in USA.
  • The applicant must have exemplary records of scholastic achievement, leadership in school, civic and extracurricular activities, involvement in missions and other church activities, and/or a strong motivation to serve and succeed.
  • Former recipients, who have received KPCMD scholarship twice, are not eligible to apply.
  • Completed Application (Download at Scholarship Application).
  • Personal Essay - on one page (separate sheet), please state your future goals and aspirations and how your current course of study will help to achieve and support those goals. Include any information you think may be helpful for the scholarship committee to get to know you, such as financial information.
  • Academic History - Please list all your academic institutions from your secondary education (high school and/or college) on a separate sheet (Name of Institution, Address, Dates Attended (mm/yyyy), GPA, Degree (if applicable), Major. Additionally, describe any extracurricular activities, academic achievements, honors and awards.
  • Current/Future Enrolled Tuition Invoice.
  • Academic Transcript – a copy of most recent academic transcript, directly from your academic institution.
  • Two letters of Recommendation, directly from “recommender” (not accepted if submitted by applicant, download at: Scholarship Recommendation). Recommender shall not be a family member.
  • For Cho Kyuhong Memorial Scholarship, Kim Dosim Memorial Scholarship and KPCMD Scholarship: FAFSA application/information.
  • For KPCMD Missionary Scholarship only: supportive documents as proof of evidence towards Korean Missionary work conducted by parents (excluding mission work conducted in the US or in South Korea).
  • Additional documents to be requested by the KPCMD Scholarship Committee (on as-needed basis).

Application Deadline: June 8th 2025

  • All High School transcript submissions by June 30th 2025.
  • Scholarship distribution period will be during mid-August 2025.
